The PGA Tour schedule for 2014 has the US Open coming as the next major on the calendar for Rory McIlroy after his breakup with Caroline Wozniacki and the two called off their engagement and wedding before the BMW PGA Championship and Tiger Woods is still uncertain about his return from back surgery and that means the tournament starting on June 12 in North Carolina is likely not happening and that means the British Open could be his first major of the year if he returns in time.

McIlroy and Wozniacki have been together for a couple years and McIlroy cited the emotional toll of a long distance relationship and the prospects of marriage and now the two sides are done. McIlroy had to stand up to the media before the BMW PGA Championship and he said that he is excited to get on the course, as it's one that he is familiar with. The two have been dating since the 2011 and the two were engaged on New Year's eve and now that is done just before the wedding.

The two were top ranked players, but both have fallen off a bit and now McIlroy is looking to get things back on track. McIlroy and Woz had to deal with numerous breakup rumors over the past couple years and she has been cited as a reason for his rough year last season. McIlroy now can concentrate on golf and he has majors coming up and now he knows Tiger Woods will likely be out for those.

Woods had a nightmare start to the year compared to last season, when he won three times before the Masters and now he will most likely miss the US Open in 2014. According to ESPN.com, Woods said that he does not yet have a set date for his return and he has not been able to hit full shots yet in his recovery process from back surgery earlier in the year. Woods struggled in his early tournaments and ultimately opted to have surgery and now Adam Scott has passed Woods for number one in the world after he previously took the ranking back from Rory McIlroy. Woods' major streak will likely extend another year and this comes after injuries over the past few years sprinkled with some close calls.

The US Open starts on June 12 and the next tournament is the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance from Muirfield Village Golf Club and then the schedule has the FedEx St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind in Memphis as the last tournament before the major.
