Albany defeated Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday night in the opening game of the NCAA Tournament, as the Great Danes finished with a 71-64 victory from University of Dayton Arena and now they will face off against the Florida Gators in Orlando in a matchup of a number one and 16 seeds on Thursday.
DJ Evans led Albany with 22 points and he kept the team up late with some free throws and now they have the pleasure of facing off against the number one overall seed in the tournament in the Gators. The team started off on a 13-0 run and was up 21-2 at one point before The Mount went on a nice stretch and got the game closer. The game was close with three minutes left and Albany was able to hang on and now they will try to be the first 16 seed to defeat a number one team.
Florida comes into the tournament as the number one team in the nation and they completed an undefeated season in the SEC and won both the regular season and tournament titles.
