The NASCAR schedule picks up on Sunday from Phoenix International Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 from Avondale and the event starts up just past 3:00 pm ET with a green flag and comes after Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the Daytona 500 to start the season and Brad Keselowski took the pole.

Phoenix has the champion from two years ago on the pole after Keselowski took the top spot for the race on Sunday and it had the new NASCAR format and he won it. Joey Logano was second and he was a head of Jamie McMurray, while Jimmie Johnson was next in the line and is fourth for Sunday. Earnhardt ended up with the fifth spot ahead of Greg Biffle and that puts him in nice position for the second week in a row and the win last week ended a streak of over 50 races without a win.

Keselowski got started up fast and went along and the new format and he put his best time during the 30 minute window and now he gets the chance to be in position for the win. Biffle is in ahead of Kyle Busch and Kyler Larson, while Aric Almirola and Kurt Busch round out the top for qualifying for the race. Phoenix runs fast and the event on Sunday could be an exciting one and Earnhardt is looking to remain on top of the Sprint Cup standings early in the year. The Daytona 500 had the pole and the Duels for qualifying and this was the first chance for the new format and now Logano and Keselowski are set for the top two spots.

Busch ended up winning the Nationwide race at Phoenix on Saturday and the race was cut short due to the weather and there were 32 laps left on things by the time it was called. Busch has dominated the races at Phoenix and Carl Edwards was the Sprint Cup winner last season, while Busch took the Nationwide races that were there and now he has the chance to put in another good performance. Earnhardt did the 500 his own way and it came at Daytona after a six hour delay for the weather and on top of that there was his 55-race streak of not winning. Now Earnhardt has the chance to continue his run at the early part of the year and this is his best start in some time.
