Both Louisville and Memphis are playing some of their best basketball down the final stretch of games in the regular season, but playing each other on short rest might not be that easy. Both Louisville and Memphis find themselves ranked and fighting for the top spot in the American Athletic Conference which will be decided sometime next week.
Louisville has won seven straight games to sit tied for first in the conference with Cincinnati. They are hoping to get a win on the road to try and move one spot against their rivals. Getting Memphis coming off a loss might be the time to do it.
The Tigers lost to Houston after several senior guards failed to get any scoring going. Chris Crawford, Joe Jackson and Geron Jackson combined for just 15 points while putting up eight turnovers in the loss. The cost Memphis a chance at earning the league title in the regular season.
Memphis relies on their trio of guards to get things going both offensively and defensively. Jackson has not topped 12 points in three games after putting up 24 in an overtime loss to Connecticut. Crawford has also put up single-digit scoring in the past three games. Defensively, the trio has been just as bad while Memphis is giving up an average of 78.8 points per game.
Memphis got the first win against Louisville back at the start of January. The team is concerned about bouncing back after a loss to Houston and will need to be playing their best with Louisville coming to town. The Cardinals are starting a two-game road trip that could determine their regular-season title fate.
