The Winter Olympics men's ice hockey finals is online and streaming from NBC as Sweden and Canada battle in Sochi for the gold medal and these are the last two champions of the Games in Turin and Vancouver and now they play on Sunday after defeating the United States and Finland and this is the last day of the Olympics and the game starts up at 7:00 am ET.
The two teams are playing very well and Canada comes in after a huge win against the United States in the semifinals and that was a hard fought game on both sides. Jamie Benn scored the lone goal against the US and that came in the first period against Jonathan Quick and the US made it into the semifinals after defeating the Czech Republic and now they are heading home without a medal, while Canada gets the chance at their second gold in a row.
The United States lost to Finland in a rout and Teemu Selanne was at the start of it all and now the American hockey team goes home without a medal after playing so well in the preliminary round. Finland has performed well in the games in previous years and they now have four medals over the past five competitions to lead all nations and now Canada and Sweden each have the chance to add a second gold medal win in three Winter Olympics. Selanne has been the elder statesman and Tuukka Rask had another great game with a shutout with 27 saves and while the US had some great chances, they couldn't get it done.
Patrick Kane had two chances on penalty shots and couldn't get it done and now Sweden and star goalie Henrik Lundqvist is looking to have another good game after winning 2-1 and also having a shutout before that and Canada will have to find a way to score against him. Sidney Crosby to Jonathan Toews will be important for the Canadians and they are among over 10 players that won gold medals last time around and they shut down the offense of the Americans and they will be looking for the same on Sunday morning.
