The PGA Tour is back home in Phoenix and the Euro Tour is in the Middle East for the Dubai Desert Classic and Rory McIlroy leads the field in the early goings on Thursday in the first round and he has a five stroke lead over Tiger Woods, who has played much better on day one than he did at the Farmers Insurance Open tournament last week.

The PGA is at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and they will be going live for the first round on Thursday in the morning and McIlroy has started off his year on a good note and he is looking to keep that going as the Dubai Classic keeps going. Woods is hoping to erase the bad taste from his performance last week when he missed the Sunday cut due to the size of the field and now he is a bit back and tied for eighth place after shooting a 68 in the first round and even if he doesn't win the tournament, the fact that he is playing better is a good sign for him this season.

Woods won five times last season on Tour and he also won the Farmers, but he did not win a major despite getting his number one ranking back and now he has the chance to get back on track. McIlroy has a two shot lead on the field over Italys Edoardo Molinari and Woods will be looking to get back in the mix on Friday. Woods has previously won the tournament twice in his career and the two will be getting back into action early on Friday and Woods will be paired with Scotland's Stephen Gallacher at 3:25 am ET.

McIlroy fell in the rankings after having a terrible season in 2013 and now he is looking to get started on the right track and he has done that in Dubai. News about the two stars playing in Dubai came up earlier last year and Woods played much better on the day and now he is pushing his tough performance back in his mind.
