The NFL playoffs are now into the next round and the divisional round set of matchups has the top two seeds in the AFC and NFC back in action on Saturday and Sunday, with the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers playing their first games against the Saints, Chargers, Colts and 49ers.
The wild card weekend saw some wild action, as both NFC games ended on the final play with a game winning field goal and now the Seahawks and the Panthers have rematches of games this season against the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers. The game between the Saints and the Seahawks is a rematch of this season and the playoffs from a few years ago and it is a straight rematch, as both of those games were in Seattle and so is the matchup next weekend at CenturyLink Field on Saturday at 4:35 pm and the game will be on FOX.
The matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers is a rematch as well and comes after the Panthers won against the Niners in Frisco and that game was in Candlestick Park and now it will be at Bank of America Field in Carolina and is on Sunday at 1:05 pm and it could be one of the best matchups of the weekend and it will be on TV on Fox. The matchup has the five and the two seed going at it and has two of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL in Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick.
The Panthers took the winner of the Packers and Niners game after the Saints won over the Eagles as the sixth seed and after winning their first playoff game on the road, New Orleans will be looking to make it two in a row this week against the Seahawks and that should be a tough task. In the AFC, the Colts will travel to play the Patriots after their amazing comeback against the Chiefs, while the Chargers and the Broncos will have a rematch of the final Thursday night game of the season.
The Colts came back from nearly 30 points down to defeat the Chiefs and now the Patriots host a playoff game after losing last season to the Ravens after beating the Texans, while the Broncos will host a team that just won in Denver a few weeks ago. The Chargers won in dominating fashion against the Bengals and now San Diego will move on as the sixth seed, meaning both bottom seeded teams won over the third seed in both the AFC and NFC this season.
