The New York Mets latest trade rumors had them discussing Ryan Braun with the Milwaukee Brewers. Guess what happened? Exactly, no major news about this trade has broken, so the Mets and Brewers' discussions went nowhere. However, what can this mean for the Mets' fanbase? Good things appear to be on their way?

That's the only way a fan can read the news. Though it's only a trade rumor, the fact that the Mets' management is reaching out to a superstar outfielder is a great sign. Of course, many dislike Braun for clearly lying and harshly pursuing clearance on a crime he committed, but the outfielder can still make a difference in the Mets' organization. Can he perform without PEDs? That is a big question.

Some Met fans are probably sighing in relief. Potentially adding a player signed through 2020 and owed over $100 million with a $20 million option vesting for his age 37 season, would not be the best option. The Mets have been screwed over one too many times in their attempt to acquire a big time player.

The Mets inquired at the right time. Braun is a doper. People in Milwaukee are probably really mad at their superstar. He is also coming off a season where he only played 61 games. His power was down, but he still batted .298. The Mets would basically acquire another David Wright (in talent). However, because of Braun's past, the Mets would have likely received a discount. The biggest problem is not knowing what Braun will provide off the dope and the probability of relinquishing some top prospects and picks would be too much to bare for this squad.

The Mets are trying to tack on talent. Many trade rumors involve them chasing after Troy Tulowitzski as they seek help at short. Other rumors have them chasing after Nelson Cruz and Curtis Granderson. Ike Davis is also a guy they are trying to move, so the Mets would need a power bat in the middle of their order.

Braun is probably not the fan favorite anywhere in baseball, but the Brewers are willing to stick to their investment and have turned the Mets away.
