Oracle Team USA (R) holds a lead against Emirates Team New Zealand during Race 18 of the 34th America's Cup yacht sailing race in San Francisco, California September 24, 2013."

The America's Cup is going on in San Francisco on Wednesday with Oracle Team USA and Emirates Team New Zealand and after a furious comeback by the Americans, the championship will be decided after the score was tied 8-8 after 18 races and now the Americans have won the Cup to retain the Auld Mug Trophy and they completed the comeback from 8-1 down to win 9-8.

The American team has had the momentum heading into the final day after coming back from an 8-1 deficit and now the NZ team is under pressure to get it done. The US team has won 10 races and normally they would have it, but after getting a penalty earlier before the event, the team was docked two points and had to make up for it.

Larry Ellison and his Oracle team knows how to come from behind and they have done it with their backs against the wall all event and he even opted to miss a huge keynote address for his company to stay with his team. Ellison has been planning this event for years and he brought it to the Bay with the new types of boats and now his team is in position to win.

Last week things appeared done for the American team, as they were down 8-1 with not much hope, but after some changes, the team stormed back, including on Tuesday when they won two races to force the epic final showdown in Race 19. This event is already the longest ever after plenty of delays for weather and now the Americans are in position to make one of the biggest comebacks ever and to give the NZ team a terrible defeat.

The event is the 34th running and the Auld Mug Trophy is one of the oldest in sports and has been around for over 160 years and Ellison wants to retain the Cup. The weather was clear and crisp on Wednesday and the American team took the lead at various points in the final race and pushed to a 500 meter lead at one point. The race has been dramatic from the start and the event will mark one of the most exciting Cups in history no matter who wins, as the Americans came back from such a deep deficit.

The team now has the chance to win and it appears they have a big enough lead to keep the Cup and the win would make it 11 straight races that they have won and they did it! The Americans won the Cup.
