Djokovic and Nadal are not new to championship battles. They have faced each other plenty of times and they have played in numerous grand slam finals. However, this one is for the year's bragging rights as both players have won a major in 2013. Djokovic took the first grand slam open of the tennis season after winning at the Australian Open, while Nadal, as usual, dominated the competition in the 2013 French Open.

This will be their 37th meeting since the two first locked up in a match back in 2006. Nadal has the advantage, winning 21 of the 36 matches, but they have split two U.S. Open appearances. Nadal won the first in 2010, while Djokovic answered back in 2011. For both players, it has been the only U.S. Open title they have captured in their career. The victory for Nadal sent him straight to the record books as he became the seventh Men's Singles player to ever win all four grand slam titles. Djokovic still has to capture the eluded French Open major, which is controlled by Nadal.

If Djokovic loses, if will be his fourth loss at the U.S. Open finale. If Nadal loses, it will be his second loss in three attempts at winning the title in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
