The NFL season is set to begin soon and with a number of teams improving and getting better in the offseason, the schedule of Monday Night football games on ESPN this year are a nice mix of up and coming teams as well as established franchises and everything will get started off in week 1 with a doubleheader as has been the tradition and it will be first the Washington Redskins taking on the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC East matchup.

The second game on the first Monday of the season will be the Houston Texans visiting the San Diego Chargers and this comes after the Bears played against the Chargers on Thursday night in week 2 on MNF in the preseason. This year Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer will call the game in San Diego and in Week 2 it will be an AFC north matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Bengals in Cincinnati and that comes before Week 3, which heads out west for another AFC divisional game between the Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos.

Week 4 starts the byes and the Miami Dolphins will visit the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome on Sept. 30 with the Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers having their bye weeks. Week 5 will start off on Thursday night with the Bills and Browns and on Monday the New York Jets will head down to the Georgia Dome to play the Atlanta Falcons and that comes the week before the Giants and Bears play on Thursday night in Week 6. Atlanta and Miami have the byes that week and that will give the Chargers another MNF game against the Indianapolis Colts out in California.

Week 7 has the first appearance of the Giants, as they host the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium, home to the Super Bowl this year and in Week 8 after things start on Thursday with the Panthers and Buccaneers, an NFC West divisional matchup will go down with the Seattle Seahawks and the St. Louis Rams for the final game in October on MNF. Week 10 has byes for Denver, Detroit, NY Giants, Arizona, San Francisco and Jacksonville the same week that the NFC North gets its day with the Chicago Bears visiting the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field and after that it will be an all-Florida matchup as the Miami Dolphins visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Week 11 will have the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers go at it down south and in week 12 the San Francisco 49ers will visit the Washington Redskins in what could be a preview of the NFC championship game.

Week 13 will have an old playoff matchup back with the Saints visiting the loudest stadium in the NFL in Seattle to take on the Seahawks, while the Week 14 matchup will be a classic one between the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears. Week 15 will have the Baltimore Ravens playing the Lions in Detroit before the Falcons head to San Francisco to play the 49ers in a playoff rematch from last season and that will do it for MNF in 2013, as Sunday night is the final game in Week 17.
