The U.S. Open had a rough weather day on Wednesday and while things could continue, some tennis will be going down and some payers in action include Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Richard Gasquet, Stephane Robert, Jack Sock, John Isner, Serena Williams and more.
On Wednesday Venus Williams lost a tough match in a third set tiebreaker and is now out of the tournament in the second round after losing to Zheng Jie of China 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (5) and now her future is up in the air. Williams played very tough throughout the match and said that she said she wants to come back, but that things are far into the future.
Williams played for over three hours and now her sister will be the lone Williams left in the tournament. Sloane Stephens started very late and finished in under and hour, while Na, 2012 Agnieszka Radwanska and 30th-seeded Laura Robson all advanced and other players include James Blake, who is done after losing a five set match that will now be the last of his career.
Blake lost on Wednesday night to Ivo Karlovic in the first round in a thriller 6-7 (2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) and now that will be the end for him, as he announced his retirement from tennis and now he also talked about joining an organization to combat gay discrimination and he took the moment to hate on the Russian law that will be going on during the Olympics next year.
"I think everyone at this point, when you look at numbers, someone in your circle -- whether it's a family member or a friend -- is gay, transgender or bisexual," he said. "You should appreciate that those people are valued members of society, people that are doing something good in the world. They should feel comfortable to live their lives. I think any sort of policy that discriminates against them, that excludes them, is completely unfair in today's day and age. That's why I say we're 50 years out and there are still things going on that are discriminatory."
