While all the attentions has been given to Arsenal's bid for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, another offer made by the North London club has gone under the radar - that to Juventus for Paul Pogba.

The same day that Arsenal made an offer for French international Cabaye, Arsene Wenger also tested the waters at Juve by bidding for Cabaye's compatriot Pogba, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Arsenal know that to land either of the two players they will have to break the £20 million ($31.2 million) barrier, and it remains to be seen which player Wenger goes for.

According to the report, Juventus seem to be more inclined to sell Pogba and Wenger would certainly land a player capable of running things in midfield.

Pogba rejected a contract at Manchester United last summer to sign for Juventus, where he became a regular for the Serie A champions.

The youngster has said he is quite happy in Turin, but could be tempted to a return to England by Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher has said the Cabaye bid made by Wenger shows the Arsenal manager has now gone into panic mode with less than two weeks remaining before the transfer window shuts.

"If Cabaye was that important to Arsenal I think they'd have bought him by now," Carragher said on Sky Sports. "It feels to me like a panic.

"If Arsene Wenger was that impressed and wanted Cabaye that much, why not buy him two months ago? What are you waiting for?

"It feels like a couple of years ago when they brought Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker and (Andre) Santos in late. Santos has been a disaster for them and Mertesacker is not for me, though Arteta's done ok. When you start panicking with transfers towards the end you obviously don't get what you want.

"I'm an ex Liverpool player with nothing to do with Arsenal but they frustrate me. I feel how the supporters are feeling."

Carragher believes Wenger and the board are shortchanging the fans by continually charging the highest ticket prices while refusing to spend big on players in the transfer market.

"I look at Arsene Wenger and what was the bid for Cabaye? £10 million? Are they going to sell for that?

"I think if Arsene Wenger has a valuation in his head he won't go above it. He'll never overspend and I look at Arsenal sometimes and think there's only one section of people at the club who are overspending -- the supporters!

"They've got the highest season ticket prices in the league but the club won't overspend on a player. I just don't get it."
