Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (18) signals a call during the first quarter of his NFL pre-season football game against the San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco, California August 8."

The Denver Broncos are heading into the 2013 season with the Super Bowl as the final destination and after going 13-3 last season and losing in shocking fashion to the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs, quarterback Peyton Manning is ready to get back onto the field to get things right.

Manning has been working hard all offseason to get the offense to perform as well as it did last year and now that the team added Wes Welker to the roster after signing him from the New England Patriots, the offense is expected to be even better than last year. Welker will join a receiving corps that includes Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas and the Broncos could threaten to be the first team since the Arizona Cardinals when they went to the Super Bowl with three 1,000 yards receivers.

The defense performed very well last season for the Broncos and this year after allowing that crazy long play to Jacoby Jones and the Ravens, the team overhauled its secondary and added Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Stewart Bradley and Shaun Phillips to the lineup. The team had a huge issue with losing Elvis Dumervil and now they will need to rely on Von Miller even more, but he may not be around for the first four games after allegedly violating the league substance abuse police.

Welker and Manning have worked out this offseason and while he was a superstar in New England, the wideout sees no reason why he can't continue that way this year. The offensive line will be in flux after the team lost JD Walton and Dan Koppen at center to injuries and they also are hoping that newly signed left tackle Ryan Clady will be healthy after dealing with a shoulder issue. The team brought in Ryan Lilja out of retirement and they also have Manny Ramirez to back them up.

Welker has had five 100-catch seasons and while there are two other receivers here as well as two very good tight ends, he should be able to get close to that once again. Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball are ready to take over the running game and along with them is Knowshon Moreno and Jacob Hester, who should get some carries as well. The team finished fifth in passing yards per game last season and 16th in rushing and the team will try and be more consistent in 2013. The defense was stellar last season, ranking third in the league in rushing and passing yards allowed per game.
