J.R. Smith seemed to be expressing his thoughts on Twitter in relation to his time spent with the New York Knicks. However, with an ambiguous statement, Smith sent hundreds of fans and followers into a frenzy as many wondered what he was referring to when he said:

Now, if you're a Knicks fan and you saw this, wouldn't you think it was in reference to his time spent in New York? It would be obvious to arrive at this conclusion just a couple of days after Smith opted out of his contract. Smith had a player option worth $2.9 million in the upcoming season. However, after putting up a terrific season where he averaged 18.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals a game, Smith decided to test the market in search of a better deal. It is perfect timing for the player who is the reigning Sixth Man of the Year.

However, Smith's true meaning behind the tweet became apparent about six minutes later.

It was all a joke and had nothing to do with basketball.

And there it is.

He was referring to a cab driver that funny...Ha. Ha.

Let's get psychological for a minute and say Smith was crying for attention. The only reason why he would even bother posting the former tweet is because he probably wants to see if he would be missed by fans in New York. Smith had a terrific regular season, but no verbs in the English language could properly discribe how poor Smith performed after Game 2 of their series against the Boston Celtics.

Smith was nowhere to be found in the Indiana Pacers' series, leaving Carmelo Anthony as the only true offensive weapon on the team. It was too late for the Knicks to find help elsewhere as Coach Mike Woodson couldn't align the proper starting rotation capable of getting the team into the next round of the playoffs.

Smith was probably trying to see what fans would say if he signed elsewhere and he did a great job getting this attention as over 1,000 followers retweeted the post.

Some fans were interesting in what was happening next. One follower wished him luck and another seemed heartbroken at the idea of not having Smith around.

The Knicks have a future shooter that will likely prove less stressful that Smith, his name is Tim Hardaway Jr. and he was the team's first round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Hardaway Jr. is a pure shooter and he could quickly find space on the team as Smith might wind up signing elsewhere.
