The Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks have played a hard fought series against each other after playing two straight games in overtime and after the Blackhawks took the triple overtime thriller in Game 1, the Bruins were able to come back and tie the series with a 2-1 victory in overtime for a 1-1 matchup going into Game 3, which was won by the Boston Bruins.

The Blackhawks came into the series as the lower seeded team after leading all of the NHL with the best record in the league to win the President's trophy and that gave them home ice advantage heading into the Stanley Cup Finals. The team lost it by dropping game 2 at home 2-1 in overtime after a goal from Daniel Paille in overtime to tie the series at 1-1 and he added another goal in the third game in the second period when the team added another by Patrice Bergeron. The two teams were scoreless through the first period before Boston scored two in the third.

The two teams have played each other touch all night and the game has been physical and there have been a number of power plays, including one late in the third period for the Bruins. The team had one goal on three chances and five shots up until that point and Jonathan Toews had three host on goal. Paille's goal was assisted by Chris Kelly and Tyler Seguin, while Bergeron scored on the power play after getting some help from Jaromir Jagr and Zdeno Chara. The Blackhawks dealt with a number of penalties and the goal by Bergeron was tough for the team to recover from.

The only shot the Blackhawks had was when they got a power play of their own after a tripping penalty and that marked the first time in the game since the opening period that the team had a power play. In the second game of the series neither team were able to score on the power play and the biggest difference in Game 3 was the play of the special teams. Kelly did a good job in the Game 2 matchup after scoring the only goal for the Bruins and the Blackhawks could only match with a goal from Patrick Sharp, which was his ninth of the playoffs.

Goalie Tuukka Rask had an excellent game with 33 saves in Game 2 for the win and while Corey Crawford was great as well, he made 26 saves and could not stop the final shot from Paille. The previous game saw Crawford win after three overtimes and a deflection goal from Andrew Shaw and that ended the first matchup at 4-3 in the third overtime. The Bruins killed the penalty in Game 3 at the end and the Blackhawks did a good job of being aggressive like they did in Game 2, but it ended in the same result. The team pulled Corey Crawford at one point as they needed to score two goals at the end of the game to have any chance of sending it to overtime and they kept it out of the zone for the last minute and a half of the game.

Bryan Bickel put a shot on the post but couldn't do it, Shaw had another chance at the end as well and the Bruins fought hard to get the puck out and since the Hawks had six players they were able to keep it in. They had a shot in front, but they couldn't get a shot in before a small fight broke out with under 10 seconds left in the game. The two teams had to be separated at the end with under 10 seconds left and that was basically how it ended.
