Houston Texans Rumors: Will Rahim Moore Get Released?

In 2015 the Houston Texans decided to offer Rahim Moore a 3 year $12 million contract and that might have turned out to be a mistake.

Currently Moore's cap hit for the Texans is around $4,068,760 and that might be tough to swallow as Moore lost his starting job to an ex-cornerback Dre Hal. Moore played in 7 games but only start in 6 and seemed to be half the player he was in Denver. In 2015 Moore only recorded 16 combined tackles, 2 pass defenses, and an interception.

Moore was assumed to become a permanent fixture in this secondary and at 26 he can only get better however he may not fit into this Texans defensive scheme. The Texans are ranked 13th in the NFL for salary cap space which puts them in a favorable position. They currently have around $29 million in cap space which should help them become players in the free agency market.

The Texans may also look to trade down in the 2016 NFL Draft to pick up one of the top four quarterbacks in the draft however they will have other needs to address this offseason. Finding a dependable running back should be first on the agenda as it appears the Texans are ready to move on from Arian Foster. Freeing up some extra cap space to sign the top free agent running back might be their best course of action.
