Cleveland Browns Rumors: Did Team Cover For Johnny Manziel Being Drunk With Concussion Diagnosis?

The issues for Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns continue to get worse by the day.

After reports that Manziel had a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend surfaced, a new report has come out that alleges the Browns lied about Manziel being drunk in practice towards the end of last season. According to Mike Silver at NFL Network, Manziel showed up to practice late in the season inebriated and the Browns "lied and said he was in the concussion protocol."

The Browns released a statement regarding the accusations by Silver, saying that "Manziel was diagnosed with a concussion by an independent neurologist," according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. "He wasn't cleared until Jan. 12. The fact that people are saying we lied about [Manziel's] concussion is false," said the statement from the team.

Cabot wrote on Twitter that she "heard the story" that Silver reported about earlier in January and asked the team about the issue. Cabot said that the team said Manziel was dealing with a concussion. Pro Football Talk writes that "there's always been something very fishy" about Manziel's diagnosis for a concussion in Week 17 of the season. PFT writes that the concussion for Manziel was not diagnosed until three days after it reportedly happened.

If this report is true, the Browns could be facing discipline from the NFL. Either way, it looks like Manziel's time in Cleveland is coming to an end and there is a chance that he will not have a future in the NFL after this past season.
