Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Darren McFadden Favored Over DeMarco Murray Trade, Dez Bryant Request RB? Doug Martin, Lamar Miller Options

While many focus on the quarterback position for the Dallas Cowboys, the run game must take priority as well. The team got more than expected from Darren McFadden after Lance Dunbar was lost to injured and Joseph Randle was released, but there are concerns that the veteran can maintain those numbers. McFadden's injury history does not favor him and the Cowboys could use help. According to Dez Bryant, that help should come from DeMarco Murray.

Bryant took to Twitter to express his desire to bring Murray back to the Cowboys. The wide receiver tweeted, "come on home D.Moe" while tagging Jason Witten and Tony Romo in the post as well. It is no secret that Murray had his best success with Dallas where he became the NFL leading rusher in 2014. The tweet from Bryant came about after trade rumors began to circle the running back as Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that the Seattle Seahawks were seeking a deal for Murray. That made many, along with Bryant, believe the Cowboys could do the same thing.

For his part, Murray is denying that idea that he is leaving Philadelphia. The running back signed a five-year, $42 million deal with the Eagles and told Pro Football Talk Live that he believed in new head coach Doug Pederson and was committed to the franchise despite the reports.

"No. I'm signed there for the next four years. I don't know where that story is coming from," Murray said, via PFT Live. "It's a little crazy. Every week I feel like there's something new. It's a little weird. I can't worry about what people are saying. I'll just continue to work hard. I'm signed for four years and I'm committed."

The Cowboys need running back help whether it is Murray or not. According to ESPN's Todd McShay, Dallas will address defense and the quarterback spot in the first two rounds. That will leave them out of the running for players like Derrick Henry and Ezekiel Elliott. The team could try to capitalize in free agency where players like Lamar Miller, Doug Martin and Chris Ivory are looking for new contracts. They are young and could help take the pressure off the shoulders of McFadden.

The Cowboys have a lot of confidence in McFadden. According to team vice president Stephen Jones, McFadden will play a big role for the team in 2016.

"Obviously he had a solid year for us," Jones said, via 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. "He's under contract. We think he'll be a big part of our plans next year and we'll continue to look for some other backs to go with him. Hopefully Lance Dunbar will come back healthy as well."

The Cowboys still need to add talent regardless of how confident they are in McFadden. The chances Murray is acquired are slim to none leaving the team to explore other options in the offseason.
