Carson Wentz Rumors: Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Texans, Eagles, LA Rams Targets? Top 10 Draft Pick Possible?

Carson Wentz is generating buzz as a potential top 10 pick in the NFL draft this year and teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams could be landing spots for the quarterback.

Wentz is working at the Senior Bowl this week and there already has been "buzz" about the quarterback with NFL scouts. According to NFL.com, Senior Bowl director Phil Savage said that some NFL personnel have said that Wentz could be a top pick this year at quarterback after putting up strong numbers during his career at North Dakota State. The Cowboys, 49ers and Browns all pick in the top 10 and could consider taking Wentz, while teams like the Eagles, Rams and Texans could look at trading up if they feel Wentz is a franchise player.

Wentz has the size to be an NFL quarterback and that should get him plenty of attention through the draft process, including the Senior Bowl and combine. Wentz was listed at 6-foot-6, 235 pounds for NDSU and he came into the Senior Bowl and measured up at 6-foot-5 1/4, 233 pounds, which scouts see as close to ideal size for a starter in the league. Wentz dealt with injuries last season, so his stats are not eye-popping like Jared Goff's from California, but NFL scouts will be looking at more than stats when it comes to Wentz.

Last season Wentz had 17 touchdowns and just four interceptions and over his career he has put up 45 touchdown passes in 42 games with the Bison. Wentz is getting buzz as one of the top quarterbacks in the draft this year and there is a chance he could end up in the top 10 or the first quarterback off the board depending on how his workouts and interviews go over the coming months. The Browns likely will have the first shot at taking a quarterback this year, while teams like the Cowboys, 49ers, Eagles and Rams also could target the position early.

In most early mock drafts from the media and NFL scouts, Goff has been pegged as the first quarterback off the board to the Cleveland Browns at the number two pick. The team is likely to go after a quarterback with everything that went on with Johnny Manziel this past season and both Goff and Wentz could be potential targets. Mel Kiper at ESPN has Goff going at number two and Wentz going at 22 to the Texans, but he adds that Wentz "could be in the top-10 mix after the Senior Bowl and combine."

The Dallas Cowboys may also consider taking a quarterback early with the number four overall pick and Daniel Jeremiah at the NFL Network has the team taking Wentz in one of his mock drafts. The Cowboys are coaching the North team at the Senior Bowl and that means they will get a close look at Wentz during practice and the game. Wentz has started to impress coaches and scouts already and that could make him a top 10 pick this year.
