2016 Draft Needs San Francisco 49ers: DeForest Buckner, Shaq Lawson, Emmanuel Ogbah Options Over QB Picks?

The San Francisco 49ers had an absolutely brutal season. With so many retirements and departures in free agency the 49ers were left with a shell of their former team.

To make matters worse Colin Kaepernick suffered multiple injuries and was benched in favor for Blaine Gabbert. No heading into the 2016 NFL draft and free agency the 49ers have a ton of holes to fill. First things first the 49ers will need a quarterback considering Kaepernick's price tag will likely see him get cut in the offseason.

Picking at number 8 is difficult for picking a franchise quarterback, trading down for Cal's Jared Goff seems to make the most sense. That is unless the 49ers are willing to go with Sam Bradford (if he leaves), Ryan Fitzpatrick (if he leaves), and Kirk Cousins (if he leaves).

The 49ers would likely have to shell out a ton of money to pay those players to lure them to San Francisco so trading down seems like the best option to select a quarterback. If Paxton Lynch or Connor Cook is on the board they may be worth a draft selection. The next need is right tackle so there is a chance the 49ers could pick up Andre Smith in free agency as he will likely be the best right tackle available. They could also just draft a top tier offensive lineman but then they would likely miss out on more pressing needs.

The 49ers desperately need a wide receiver especially with Anquan Boldin a free agent so it is likely they either take the first wide receiver in the draft which could be Laquon Treadwell or Corey Coleman. In free agency they could attempt to lure Alshon Jeffery or James Jones to the Bay area.

Lastly there is the 49ers have to rebuild their defensive line and sitting at the 8th pick, Joey Bosa will likely be off the board which means they should go after DeForest Buckner, Shaq Lawson, Emmanuel Ogbah, or Jonathan Allen. In free agency the 49ers could bring in Jason Pierre Paul, Derek Wolfe, Olivier Vernon, Malik Jackson, or even the injured Muhammad Wilkerson. There is a ton of work to be done and the 49ers need to make the most out of this offseason rebuild.
