Miami Dolphins Rumors: Rishard Matthews Fantasy Sleeper, Lamar Miller, Jarvis Landry Starters For Ryan Tannehill, Jay Ajayi Returns To Practice?

The Miami Dolphins are coming into Week 7 after a nice win over the Titans and players like Lamar Miller, Jarvis Landry and Rishard Matthews are the best fantasy football options to start for Ryan Tannehill. The Dolphins are also getting back Jay Ajayi from an injury and he is eligible to return to practice this week.

The Dolphins were dominant against the Titans last week in the first game under interim head coach Dan Campbell and both side of the ball looked energized. The defense was much better with Cameron Wake leading the way with four sacks, while the offense moved the ball well and Lamar Miller had his best game of the season. Jarvis Landry added three catches and a rushing touchdown and he continues to be one of the best offensive playmakers in the league.

The Dolphins now will be adding another offensive player to the mix, as the Mimi Herald reports that rookie Jay Ajayi is on his way back from a rib injury. Ajayi injured his ribs in the preseason and was later placed on short term injured reserve and now he is eligible to come back. According to the Palm Beach Post, Ajayi will likely return to practice this week and he is eligible to play against the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. The site reports that the team will "evaluate" Ajayi over the "next two weeks" and that will determine if he plays against the Bills.

Ajayi was a fifth round draft pick for the Dolphins and the team expected him to be a solid backup option for Miller this season. Ajayi slipped into the fifth after dealing with a knee injury in college and some pro teams were worried about his long term durability. The knee did not end up being an issue for Ajayi in the preseason, but the rib injury has kept him off the field for Miami so far this season.

The Dolphins have Damien Williams and Jonas Gray as the other running backs heading into next week and once Ajayi gets into the mix, he could take some carries away from those players. Miller is the starter and is in no trouble of losing his job and getting another depth option behind Miller could help Tannehill and the offense move the ball more consistently. Miller had a great game last week against the Titans with 113 yards and a touchdown and the Dolphins will continue to try and keep him going in the right direction.

Rishard Matthews is another fantasy option for owners this week, as he has been putting up solid numbers this season behind Landry. Matthews was on the field for all but seven snaps on Sunday and he was playing much more than Kenny Stills and Greg Jennings and that has been going on for most of the season. Matthews had six catches on six targets for 85 yards and is a solid WR3 for fantasy owners.
