Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Brandon Weeden Benched After Tough Game? Matt Cassel Backup Quarterback Option After New England Patriots Loss

Sunday afternoon Dallas Cowboys fans witnessed a painful performance from the Cowboys offense. The struggle to move the ball down the field was only heightened by the outstanding defensive performance which saw Tom Brady sacked the most he has ever been in the first half of any NFL game in his career.

The addition of Rolando McClain and Greg Hardy made an immediate difference as the Cowboys got the most pressure they have gotten all season against the defending Super Bowl champs. Weeden just could not push the Cowboys down the field and when he did take a shot he threw an ugly interception.

Weeden just does not look capable of leading the Cowboys to a victory especially if that Dallas run game is being bottled up all game long. Matt Cassel looked like a legitimate starter in his week 4 preseason game. He may have some similarities to Alex Smith but he can at least make a few plays here and there.

Cassel has thrown 96 touchdowns in his career and only threw 70 interceptions while Weeden has only thrown 28 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. Cassel is the more seasoned quarterback with the better arm and the only hope for the Cowboys as they look to get back to .500.
