Game 2 Cardinals vs. Giants Results: NLCS Series Tied After San Francisco 7-1 Win

The San Francisco Giants tied the series 1-1 after defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 7-1 in Game 2 of the NLDS.

Ryan Vogelsong stepped up his game tonight becoming the first Giants pitcher to go six innings. In fact, he bettered that and went seven innings of one run baseball.

He shut down the Cardinals' lineup, painting corners and changing speeds. Vogelsong gave up just four hits and walked two while striking out four.

The Giants struck first in the first inning on a leadoff home run by Angel Pagan for his second in the playoffs.

They added more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The big blow in this inning, you can say it was almost payback for an earlier incident in the game.

Marco Scutaro stepped to the play with the bases loaded and two outs. He lined a sharp single to left field and cleared the bases as Matt Holliday could not handle the ball cleanly.

Earlier in the game, Holliday slid hard into second base and wiped out Scutaro at second, who was covering the bag in attempt to get the double play.

Scutaro stayed on the ground and had his left leg wrapped around Hollidays falling body. Scutaro remained in the game, but left in the top of the sixth as Ryan Theriot went in to play second base.

Theriot then added two runs in the bottom of the 8th to make it 7-1

With the win, the Giants do not go into St. Louis down 0-2 in the series.
