NFL News: Cowboys Place Darren McFadden On PUP List For Training Camp

Dallas Cowboy's running back and free agent answer to the loss of DeMarco Murray (or at least a piece of the answer) will be spending a large amount of time on the shelf in preseason. McFadden tweaked his hamstring which caused the overly cautious move.

McFadden has been dealing with a hamstring injury all off season so this is the time his rehab and prep needs to be a paramount concern. This does not dictate that the Cowboys do anything different during training camp.

The Cowboys want to see what they have with their group of running backs. McFadden's reps will most likely be given to Lance Dunbar, and Gus Johnson. Joseph Randle has been penciled in as the starter ever since the offseason began, so now it will be his show to run. McFadden is expected to be ready week 1 however so he could be worked into the offense as a change of pace back.

The Cowboys can bring McFadden back at any point in the preseason if they see that his recovery is complete. This could also spark the Cowboys to bring in an extra camp body such as Chris Johnson or an undrafted free agent like recently signed Gus Johnson.
