NY Jets Rumors: Brandon Marshall Denies Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick Battle, Marcus Mariota Trade Likely as Knowshon Moreno, DeAngelo Williams, Stevan Ridley Signed?

The New York Jets have confidence their offense is going to be much better in 2015. Still in need of a running back, the Jets made huge improvements in their defense while acquiring solid wide receivers to help whoever is at quarterback. That might be the biggest question yet again for New York as the team has Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick and a potential rookie. With deals still possible, Smith is at least getting to work right away.

The Jets made one of the first big moves of the offseason by trading for Brandon Marshall prior to the season starting. Marshall was a cap casualty with the Chicago Bears and will now pair alongside Eric Decker to form a strong one-two punch. While still uncertain about who will be throwing him the ball, Marshall says he is excited over the potential of Smith.

"This is pretty interesting because Geno and I, we started this weird relationship from the time he got drafted," Marshall said, via NFL.com. "He's a Florida guy. My gym ... it's literally like three exits from him. We started this relationship, and it's pretty cool to see how it develops off the field. So now I get traded, and when this stuff starts happening, we started communicating. We both decided it would probably be cool to get together and work out for the rest of the offseason ... and try to get other guys down so we can start building that chemistry."

Marshall is not expecting their to be any kind of competition between Smith and Fitzpatrick although neither head coach Todd Bowles nor offensive coordinator Chan Gailey have endorsed the future of either quarterback. While Chicago had Jay Cutler penciled in as the starter, the Jets are filling in their roster in pencil. There is still a very really possibility that New York makes a trade for Marcus Mariota.

According to the New York Daily News, the Jets are still considering Mariota at No. 6 in the draft. Several teams have dropped out of the race for the Oregon star which means New York could get him for the future. Fitzpatrick is not the long-term option. Smith has yet to play the part of a long-term option. The Jets need to get their guy with these improved offensive pieces and Mariota could be just that.
