Borussia Dortmund Rumors: Marco Reus Out For 2014 Season With Ankle Injury

Borussia Dortmund will be without Marco Reus for the rest of the season after he suffered an ankle injury after being tackled in a match against Paderborn in Bundesliga play and the injury could keep him out for quite a while, as he tore ligaments on the play.

According to Pro Soccer Talk, Reus was injured over the weekend after being taken down on a hard tackle by Marvin Bakalorz, who slid into his ankle over the ball. There likely should have been a card on that play and now Reus will be out while he recovers from torn lateral ankle ligaments. Reus previously missed the World Cup with an injury and now his woes continue after suffering this injury on the pitch for Dortmund.

Reus had come back strong and during his 2014 play across leagues he had 17 goals and 14 assists in 29 matches during the year. Marvin Bakalorz apologized after and said he did not mean to hurt Reus.

"I have seen the foul on television, and it's really bad. Of course I did not intend to hurt him. I understand that Klopp is upset. The unfortunate challenge overshadows our draw, and I can not be happy about the result."
