Philadelphia 76ers Rumors: Michael Carter-Williams Trade With Jason Richardson Option Over Nerlens Noel If Joel Embiid Out All Season?

The Philadelphia 76ers once again will be terrible this season and after rumors of a Michael Carter-Williams trade over the summer, the team may try to move the point guard along with Jason Richardson, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Alexey Shved at the deadline, as they see Nerlens Noel as a building block and Joel Embiid is expected to miss most of the season with an injury.

The Sixers are once again going to be a bad team and after flirting with a trade with Williams this offseason, the team could look at going through with the deal this year. The team was rumored to be looking at the Lakers as an option, but that was before the team traded for Jeremy Lin with the Rockets. The team is filled with no names and young players and that is why Richardson, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Alexey Shved are targets to get dealt.

The Sixers likely will try and make moves near the deadline and if they can get any type of draft pick for either Richardson, Mbah a Moute or Shved, they probably will take it. Williams was shopped last summer according to Grantland.com and writer Zach Lowe wrote that he was "heavily" shopped to other teams and while a deal did not go down, there is a good chance he could get traded this year. Williams is a very solid player and while he won rookie of the year, many saw it as a player playing well on a very bad team.

Last season Williams had a very solid stat line with 16 points per game along with six rebounds and six assists and that was likely due to the fact that he played a ton and the Sixers were terrible. Noel is coming in after an injury, but Embiid will be out and the talent is just not there on this roster. The team picked Embiid at number three and that makes two drafted players the team has had in two seasons that likely will sit out the year after Noel did that following his trade from the Pelicans.

The Sixers could tank and try to get another high lottery pick after the league voted to keep the old system, but change is coming soon. Williams is a very talented player and while he was solid at Syracuse and strong last season, the Sixers may look at moving him or the veterans for picks or cap relief. The team will be very bad again this season and while Williams may end up staying put by the end of all this, it's likely the Sixers make at least one trade after dealing Thaddeus Young this offseason.
