The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics are playing on the NBA Preseason schedule on Monday and the game is live on NBATV and streaming online from the NBA.com website as Brad Stevens leads his team against the Sixers at the TD Boston Garden ahead of the start of the season at the end of the month to kick off the 2014-15 slate.

The Sixers have been a complete mess over the past couple years while rebuilding and so have the Boston Celtics. The team has Rajon Rondo with a broken hand and he is coming up on free agency and that is the biggest issue for the team heading out of the summer. The Celtics won just 25 games last season and now they are looking to at least make some slight improvements. This is the first game for the team and along with Rondo being out, Jeff Green will also miss out with a leg strain.

The Celtics aren't expecting to make the playoffs, but Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge definitely think the team has the chance to improve. Rondo missed time last season while recovering from his ACL surgery and now he has the chance to come back healthy once his hand heals up. The Celtics have a number of young players they want to see perform and with Rondo out, Marcus Smart could get his chance to start for the team. Smart was a lottery pick for the Celtics and he could be the future point guard if Rondo opts to leave or eventually gets traded.

The Sixers won just 19 games this past season and ended up with Joel Embiid in the draft. The team now is hoping to tank again, but if they change the draft rules that will mess things up and either way, this season will be a disaster again. The team was last in the league in points allowed and they next play against the Hornets on the preseason schedule. The Knicks play against the Celtics next and that will be at the XL Center and both of these teams will be looking to bounce back after tough seasons last year.
