MLB Trade Rumors: New York Mets in On Royals' Closer Jonathan Broxton

The Kansas City Royals have interests in moving Jonathan Broxton, according to Ken Rosenthal.

The 2-time All-Star is signed through 2013 and he would be owed $4 million.

The Royals find themselves 7.5 games out of first place entering Thursday evening.

Broxton, who was once upon a time one of the most feared closers in baseball, is returning to his Los Angeles Dodger form.

He was in the National League All-Star team in 2009 and 2010. 2009 was his best season. He converted 36 out of 43 save opportunity and finished the season with 7 wins.

Possible and very logical suitors for Broxton are the owners of the worst bullpen ERA in Major League Baseball, the New York Mets.

The Mets make a lot of sense for Broxton.

They are currently in the playoff race as they are only 4.5 games behind the Washington Nationals entering Thursday evening.

Broxton has playoff experience from his time in Los Angeles. He has proven he can close and so far has a 2.05 ERA with 20 saves in 2012 with the Royals.

The Royals have less than a 1 percent chance of making the playoffs, which is a real shame granted they have some of the nicest young talent in the Majors.

Frank Francisco is on the DL and in the meantime, Broxton could be the closer in Queens.
