Pelicans Trade Rumors: Austin Rivers, Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, Ryan Anderson Traded After Patric Young Signs For Anthony Davis?

The New Orleans Pelicans are looking to upgrade their roster this offseason and the team has already made a number of moves and now a trade with Ryan Anderson, Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday or Austin Rivers could be coming down the line to help give support to Anthony Davis and this comes as Patric Young was signed with Jimmer Fredette and Omer Asik was acquired in a trade.

Last season the Pelicans made a number of offseason moves, including separate trades with Holiday and Evans to try and get better, but that ended up getting the team to just 34 wins. According to ESPN.com, the team has signed Patric Young after his performance at the summer league and the team is also considering a deal for Austin Rivers. A trade or move with Rivers came up earlier in the offseason as the team was trying to get the cap situation right to acquire Asik and while that ended up working out, the team now could continue those options with Rivers, who has not played like a lottery pick since being drafted.

Davis has turned into a perennial all-star player and he showed why he was the number one overall pick a couple years ago, averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds this past season. David did his work last season and now he is hoping he can help the Pelicans improve this year and the team now has added Patric Young from Florida as an undrafted free agent. Young spent four years with Billy Donovan with the Gators and he played well in the Vegas league and now he has a deal with the Pelicans. There is always a chance he doesn't last through camp since his deal is not guaranteed, but he should provide some solid depth for the team off the bench.

Last season Anderson came up multiple times in trade rumors, including one with the Rockets and Asik since Anderson previously played with Dwight Howard in Orlando, but that deal never went down. The Pelicans also added Jimmer Fredette this offseason and he could be a very nice option off the bench. Jimmer did not get much of a chance in Sacramento to shine and now he may be able to get onto the floor more, as the team needs him to come in for Anthony Morrow. Fredette is a solid shooter and he averaged five points per game last season.

Last season the Pelicans ranked in the middle of the pack in the NBA in most categories, including 18th in points scored and 19th in points allowed per game. The team was also 22nd in rebounding and 19th in assists per game and they are expecting more out of both Evans and Holiday, who led the team with eight assists per game. Holiday was an All-Star and now he has to find a way to get back to that level this season, while Evans also needs to improve after last year. The Pelicans have a chance to make some moves and they could be a surprise team in the west this season with some improvement in various areas.
