Chelsea Transfer News: John Terry Could Move to Paris St Germain

French moneybags Paris St Germain are plotting a move for Chelsea captain John Terry.

PSG, owned by rich Qatari owners for whom money is no object, are looking considering an offer for Terry after a £40 million ($62 million) move for Thiago Silva fell through.

The French club, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season, are willing to bid £8 million ($12.5 million) for the 31-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

Terry had a decent Euro 2012 campaign, when he was taken in the place of Rio Ferdinand amid much controversy.

The Chelsea defender is no stranger to problems, having had his captaincy stripped for off-field misconduct leading to then England manager Fabio Capello's signature.

Terry is to stand trial for allegedly racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, Rio's brother, in an English Premier League game. Terry has denied the charges.

PSG have plenty of money to burn and matching the England international's £160,000 a week ($251,000) salary won't be a problem. The French club have pretty much completed the signing of Napoli's Argentinian sensation Ezequiel Lavezzi for a reported fee of £21 million ($33 million).

PSG is coached by former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, who had a strong relationship with his Chelsea captain during his time at Stamford Bridge.

PSG's Brazilian sporting director Leonardo admitted Ancelotti's admiration for the player. "Terry is close to Carlo Ancelotti, but that is all," the former AC Milan coach said.

PSG have also been linked with Arsenal players Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie as the French club tries to establish itself as one of the best in Europe.

Meanwhile, Chelsea vice-captain Frank Lampard has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy.
