World Cup 2014 Group A Standings: Brazil and Mexico Lead With 4 Points After Draw

The World Cup 2014 Group standings has Mexico and Brazil leading the set in Group A after playing to a scoreless draw on the Tuesday schedule and now the two teams have a clear path to the knockout stage if they can get a good result against Cameroon and Croatia in their final matchups later in the group round.

Brazil and Mexico each had their chances, but the host nation dominated in scoring chances and goalie Guillermo Ochoa was the hero for Mexico and he stopped Neymar on a shot that was crossing the line when he swatted it away. Croatia and Cameroon now face off before Brazil matches up with the African nation and Mexico plays against Croatia. The two teams are tied in points, but Brazil is ahead on goal differential with three from their first game, while Mexico had just one.

The World Cup 2014 tournament is live streaming on Tuesday with Mexico and Brazil playing in Group A and the matchup comes from Fortaleza at 3 pm ET with a live stream from ESPN and the WatchESPN website as El Tri takes on the host nation in a very important matchup for the two sides as they try and advance to the knockout stages of the soccer tourney.

Brazil opened their tournament with a win and that was an expected result over Croatia, while Mexico won a rain soaked match with Cameroon despite some terrible officiating and now the two teams will play. Brazil won with two goals from Neymar and he will need to continue playing well for the team to advance and while they are certainly favored in this match, the team knows that El Tri is aggressive and talented despite their injuries and will not overlook them.

The other two teams in group A are coming off losses and now Croatia and Cameroon will matchup and to have any chance at getting to the knockout stage those teams need points from this fixture. Brazil is in good position to advance out of their group and they have the inside edge as the host nation and like the first game against Croatia, there is a good chance they will get the benefit of some other calls leading into the draw and into the knockout stage.

Brazil and Mexico now have the advantage in Group A and some of the other leaders around the tournament include the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Costa Rica, Belgium as well as the Netherlands. The Dutch won a great game over the defending champions in Spain and that was as dominating a performance in the Cup. The Germans won big over Portugal and now Pepe will be out for the next matchup against Team USA and that will be in Manaus.
