Andrew Wiggins Draft Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers Trade With Cleveland Cavaliers Option For Number 1 Pick Over Kevin Love?

The NBA draft is getting very close and that means more and more trade rumors for teams at the top and one has popped up with the Philadelphia 76ers looking at trading with the Cleveland Cavaliers to the number 1 pick to take Andrew Wiggins first overall and to get that deal done for the Sixers it would likely take at least one of the Sixers top 10 picks as well as a player or two to satisfy the Cavs.

The Cavaliers have the top pick for the second year in a row and they have received numerous calls already about trades, but so far there is no clear idea about what the team will do. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Sixers are motivated to move up and draft Wiggins, as they see him as a potential superstar and with the young talent they have a turnaround could be a few years away. The report says that the Sixers are motivated to get Wiggins and that they will do "whatever" they need to do to get him, but is also cautions that it could be a smokescreen.

Like the NFL draft, there is plenty of misinformation about the NBA draft and what teams want to do and the reports about the Sixers going after Wiggins could be hiding the true intentions of the team. Dante Exum from Australia has been mentioned as a target for the Sixers as well and there is a chance they are putting this out there in the hopes that another team doesn't trade up to get him. The Sixers likely could sit tight and get Exum, as Wiggins, Parker and Embiid have been described as the consensus top three, but things change often when the draft gets close.

Julius Randle was expected to be a top pick, but like fellow former Kentucky Wildcat Nerlens Noel (who happens to be on the Sixers, naturally) he had a foot problem crop up and now teams are weary of picking him too high. Randle came out to smash those reports, but scouts will take them into consideration and now the Sixers have some major decisions to make. The Sixers are set up nearly as good as anyone in this draft, as they have two top 10 picks after that move with Noel and the Pelicans and that means they can package up a nice deal for the Bucks or Cavaliers if they want to trade up.

The Cavaliers have the number one pick again after getting it a few years ago with Kyrie Irving and also last season when they picked Anthony Bennett. While it might be too soon to call Bennett a bust, he did not do too much to disprove that in his rookie season and the Cavs cannot afford to mess this pick up. The team has been rumored to be looking at a Kevin Love trade and if that went down, presumably the number one pick and some players would be involved. The team now has a major decision to make and if the Sixers are for real, the Cavs could get a top pick and some players out of it while also drafting a nice prospect.
