NHL Playoffs Standings: Montreal Canadiens Win Against NY Rangers For 2-1 Series In Overtime

The Montreal Canadiens won in overtime 3-2 against the NY Rangers and now New York leads the eastern conference finals 2-1 after losing on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden after the team tied the game with a goal with seconds left on the clock in the third period.

The Canadiens got the winning goal from Alex Galchenyuk after a rebound off Henrik Lundqvist and now the team is back in the series after losing the first two games at home. Lundqvist was unstoppable in the first two games and in Game 3 the goals were all scored on fluke type plays and now the series heads into Game 4 at MSG with the Canadiens getting a chance to tie things up.

Rookie goalie Dustin Tokarski was great and he stopped barrage after barrage from the Rangers, who mustered two goals on 35 shots and now the Canadiens have avoided a 3-0 deficit. Chris Kreider once again made a difference and he scored a goal with 28 seconds left in the third period to get the game into overtime, but things ended quickly and now the series is 2-1 in favor of the Rangers. Carey Price remains out for the series and this game was the most physical of the three matchups and now the series is guaranteed to go back to Montreal for Game 5.

The Rangers have played better on the road overall than at home in recent years in the playoffs and now they will try and get to 3-1 in the series on Sunday night. Daniel Briere scored the goal to put the Canadiens ahead and that came before Kreider's goal and now the two teams will head into the weekend looking to win Game 4.
