Jarrett Jack Trade Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers Target Jason Thompson, Sacramento Kings Deal, Isaiah Thomas Available Despite Injury as Player Swap Negotiations Continue

The Cleveland Cavaliers have intended to be sellers in the trade market, but have yet to find a team interested in anyone other than Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters. However, the team appears to have some interest in Jarrett Jack. The veteran point guard could certainly be a solid rotational player for anyone looking for a shooter and the Sacramento Kings are ready to strike a deal.

ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting the Cavaliers and the Kings are in talks to do a player swap involving Jack and Jason Thompson. However, the Cavaliers have no interest in keeping Thompson and are currently searching for a third team to help in the trade. Stein reports the trade will not happen unless a third team gets involved.

Sacramento has been searching for help at the point guard position after Isaiah Thomas injured his wrist and Jimmer Fredette continues to struggle. Jack has experience playing for Kings head coach Michael Malone after the two worked together in Golden State and New Orleans. A reunion could be what Jack needs considering he played the best years of his career under Malone. Jack is averaging 8.5 points and 3.8 assists on the struggling Cavaliers and could certainly be a strong veteran presence on the young squad.

Thompson is certainly a very capable big man, but the Cavaliers do not need help at the forward position. Cleveland is set with depth in the frontcourt which is why they want a third team to get involved. Thompson does not have a lot of trade value so the move would essentially be a cap-space clearing effort.

If this deal sours, the Kings could offer Thomas up. According to reports, the shooter is still available for a trade. He is in the midst of his best career in the league right now and is set to become a restricted free agent in the summer. Could Cleveland be interested in acquiring the young star for the remainder of the season? It is not likely, but if that is what it takes, do not put anything past Dan Gilbert.

Thomas is the most valuable piece Sacramento has and will not come cheap. If Cleveland wants to trade Jack away, a third team is the only option for them.
