Terrelle Pryor Rumors: Oakland Raiders Release Coming As Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, NY Jets Like QB?

Terrelle Pryor had an up and down season in 2013 while starting for the Oakland Raiders and now it's possible his release is coming and teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, NY Jets, Buccaneers, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans could be interested in his services.

Pryor comes into the offseason after starting about half of the Raiders games last season and he played in 11, passing for 1,798 yards and seven touchdowns with 11 interceptions and while he showed some flashes, he did not take hold of the starting job. Pryor was second on the team in rushing with nearly 600 yards last season and he could be on his way out of town after Dennis Allen and Reggie McKenzie said that the QB of the future is not on the roster currently and since they have a top five pick, it's likely they will select someone like Johnny Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater.

Matt McGloin showed some flashes as well, but neither appears to be the long term solution in the future and now Pryor could be poised to go elsewhere. ESPN.com reports that the Eagles could be a fit if they lose Michael Vick to free agency, as Pryor could step in and be a solid backup for Nick Foles. Chip Kelly recruited him in college and has said that he loves his skills and instincts and that could lead to a deal if Pryor gets released. In the final game of the season he had 207 yards and two touchdowns and the Raiders come into the offseason at 4-12 for the second year in a row and they ranked 25th in the league in passing yards per game.

The Raiders now have some major choices, as they have the number five pick in the draft and with names like Manziel and Blake Bortles out there, the team could be tempted to make a high selection. The trade of Matt Flynn and the selection of Tyler Wilson did not work out last season and now they could add a player like Manziel, who passed for nearly 8.000 yards and over 60 touchdowns in just two seasons in college.

Manziel could be a solid option for the Raiders, but they also have nearly $60 million in projected cap space and that means they could look to the free agent or trade market while picking someone else high in the top five. The Raiders are going to scout the quarterbacks and study them at the combine and that could leave Pryor as the odd man out after they signed McGloin as an undrafted free agent.

The Raiders pick ahead of a couple teams that could be in the mix for a quarterback in the Texans, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars and they may have to trade up to get the man they want. Pryor could be an option for the Buccaneers, NY Jets or the Browns and while they could draft quarterbacks as well, Pryor could be an option to take over if he is released.
