Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Dan Quinn Was Interested In Cleveland Browns Coaching Job Before Super Bowl Victory, Did Franchise Make Huge Mistake Again?

The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions after their dominating performance on defense against the Denver Broncos and that makes defensive coordinator Dan Quinn a name to watch as a possible head coach and now that he has said that he would have been interested in the Cleveland Browns coaching job that eventually went to Mike Pettine, did the franchise make a huge mistake?

The Browns are a team that has been a mess since coming back into the NFL and now this is another embarrassment for the club, as they embarrassed themselves by firing Rob Chudzinski before he could even get settled on the Sunday night after the final loss of the season, then they took it in the chin when candidate after candidate did not want to take their job and after a long wait, they ended up with former Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.

According to Pro Football Talk, Quinn said after SB XLVIII that he would have been interested in the job and he was considered a candidate after interviewing at one point, but since his team was in the Super Bowl he was out of things after that. Quinn showed that his defensive game plan was perfect against Peyton Manning and now the Browns have hired their fourth head coach in the last seven seasons and it might not even be the guy they wanted in the first place.

This has happened many times in the past and teams have moved onto other candidates but is that really a smart way to think? Put it this way, are those two weeks really that important in the grand scheme of things when it comes to hiring a head coach if another candidate that the team likes it still out there, especially one in the Super Bowl? Only time will tell for the Browns, but either way, the Seahawks defense should be good under Quinn next season.
