The English Premier League schedule picks up on Wednesday for New Year's Day with a number of exciting matches, including Arsenal taking on Cardiff City and Chelsea playing against Southampton and coming into the day, the Gunners were atop the table over Manchester City, the Blues, Everton and Liverpool and now a number of matches are going on and the results and scores can be found below and the matches are streaming from the NBC Live Extra.
Manchester City has the lead on the table after winning the early match on the day against Swansea City and they took that 3-2 after Swansea was able to add a score in extra time and the winners got scores from Fernandinho, Yaya Touré and Aleksandar Kolarov while Swansea got all their scoring from Wilfried Bony, getting goals in the first and second half extra times and now Man City is on top to start the day's later games. West Ham United took an early lead after a goal from Mohamed Diame against Fulham and the rest of the matches are going on and were scoreless just before the 10 minute mark and the latter match with Manchester United taking on Tottenham could be one of the most entertaining on the schedule.
The holiday schedule in the English Premier League was very busy with Boxin Day and the weekend matches and now they will take a nice 10 day break until next weekend and the matches pick back up on January 11th and whoever is in the league table then is in good position heading through the 2014 schedule. Chelsea and Hull City will start things off that day with the early match, while Cardiff City and West Ham will play, Tottenham and Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane and the late match on the day will be Manchester United taking on Swansea City at Old Trafford.
The Sunday matches that weekend should be good as well with Newcastle playing against Manchester City and the late match on that day will be Stoke City hosting Liverpool and Luis Suarez. Man City is atop the table for the time being until after the Gunners finish their match and they have the lead over Arsenal and Chelsea in the top three spots, while Everton and Liverpool and next on the table ahead of Manchester United and the team has been improving under David Moyes and now they are atop Tottenham on the table heading into Wednesday, while Newcastle and Southampton are next on the table ahead of Hull and Swansea City ahead of Stoke City and Aston Villa.
