Angels Trade Rumors: Mark Trumbo Deal Squashed By GM As Boston Red Sox Top Target?

The Los Angeles Angels have already pulled off a significant trade this offseason with David Freese and with reports coming down daily about Mark Trumbo, general manager Jerry Dipoto put some cold water on those rumors, saying that deals to the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians or LA Dodgers is unlikely.

According to Hardball Talk, Dipoto spoke on the record this week with the Los Angeles Times and said that the team is planning on keeping Trumbo, despite reports that the team could trade him for starting pitching. The report stated that Dipoto said the team would figure out their starting pitching "issues" without trading Trumbo, who has been linked most with the Boston Red Sox.

The 27-year-old has bounced around the diamond and the outfield for the Angels and they love his power despite the fact that he is a defensive liability. The Red Sox still could be an option for a trade.
