Washington Redskins Rumors: Robert Griffin III Should Play Says Ahmad Brooks, Should Kirk Cousins Start After 49ers Monday Night Loss?

The Washington Redskins are going through a tough time in 2013 after making the playoffs as division winners last season and now that the team has lost again, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks came out to say that he thinks Robert Griffin III shouldn't be playing since he is not fully recovered from his knee injury, meaning Kirk Cousins would be in line to start.

The Redskins lost on Monday night football to the 49ers are were completely dominated and Griffin did not look like the same player he was last season and for the first time in his career, Griffin played for a team that did not score a touchdown in a game. Griffin finished the day with just 127 yards and was 17 of 27 and he also tossed a pick and was sacked four times, including two by Smith. Cousins has played well when he has needed to come in for Griffin and while Mike Shanahan doesn't look like he will be making a quarterback change, the way Griffin has played, Smith may have a point.

Griffin did not look very good at the beginning of the season as he came back from his ACL injury and many scouts have written that Griffin has not been as efficient as he was last year and that he is missing on throws he made last season. Griffin already has more than doubled his internet total from last season with 11 this year and he also has not scored a rushing touchdown. He had 22 yards rushing in the game on Monday and has far less this season than he did last year and Smith said that while Griffin is a "warrior" and is playing his heart out, he clearly is not fully recovered from his knee injury. Griffin started off the season with four straight incompletions and was picked off early and now he heads into the back stretch of the season after falling 27-6 to the 49ers.

The relationship between Shanahan and Griffin has been icy at best this season and now heading into the back stretch the team is 3-8 on the year and they will be hosting the New York Giants in a big game on Sunday that will help decide who finishes in last place in the NFC East. The matchup on Sunday will be big for the Redskins, as they have the Kansas City Chiefs after that and the team has now lost three of four games and three in a row. The team travels to play the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15 before playing the Dallas Cowboys and then the team ends the season on the road against the New York Giants,

"He's obviously a man and he makes his own decisions, but I personally don't feel he should be playing right now," Brooks said.
