2014 World Cup Qualifiers Scores & Results: Portugal, Greece Win in 1st Leg

The 2014 World Cup Qualifiers saw plenty of action on Friday evening as eight teams met for a chance to increase their chances of making it to the tournament. Though great teams will probably have a chance of missing out on the action, others took advantage of their opportunities and got a step closer to Brazil.

Ronaldo saved the day for Portugal as Miguel Veloso fed him with a beautiful cross from the left side of the pitch. Diving towards the net, the superstar stuck his head out and with a header, he knocked in the score, giving the Portuguese team the lead at the 82-minute-mark.

Ronaldo almost struck again in minute 85 with another header, but it hit off the top cross bar, bouncing back on to the field and cleared by the Swedish team.

The game was pretty much very physical the entire night. The Swedish defense was aggressive and fouls were being handed out left and right. With a total of 23 goals in the match, neither team was able to establish anything early on in the match.
