Percy Harvin Fantasy Football Status Week 9: Not Playing As Golden Tate Best WR Starting Pick, Return Could Come After Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Seattle Seahawks are playing on Monday night football and while many fantasy owners are hoping Percy Harvin will be playing in the matchup, chances are he will not be active for Week 8, but rather in Week 9 against the Buccaneers, making Golden Tate the safer play on Monday night this week.

According to CBS Sports, Harvin is expected to return for the Week 9 game against the Buccaneers after the Seahawks play the Rams and this comes after he has missed every game while recovering from offseason hip surgery. The Seahawks made the big trade for him in the offseason and now with the team 6-1 and already looking great, they could get even better with Harvin, who will likely need a few games to get back into the groove and he couldn't have picked a better time to get better. The Seahawks are in a stretch right now where they have "manageable" games and heading into the back stretch, when he likely would be back, the team has a much tougher schedule.

The Seahawks signed Harvin long term so they are thinking about more than this season, but with Russell Wilson and that offense, the team has a chance to make a Super Bowl run this season and having Harvin will make that much more of a certainty. The team has a bye in Week 12 and that could be a prime target for him to get fully back and that comes before games against the Saints and 49ers. Harvin was injured last season with the Vikings and still led the team in stats and now he has been back at practice with the team and has looked much better than expected.

Harvin is out for the Monday night matchup, leaving Golden Tate as the best wideout option against a banged up Rams team and for Russell Wilson the impending return of Harvin is welcome news. Pete Carroll said the team wants to be cautious with Harvin, who had 62 catches last season for 677 yards and now he could be the most explosive piece for an already put together team.

Tate has put up some solid stats for the team this season and he is expected to be a full go for the Rams on Monday night. The wideout had four catches for 77 yards last week and has a solid 27 catches for 346 yards this season with one touchdown and he has a nice matchup coming against the Rams.

Harvin returning for the back stretch for the Seahawks will be huge, as they play the Falcons on the road and out of their bye they have a second Monday night matchup against the New Orleans Saints and then the team will play on the road against the 49ers in a big division game. The team ends with divisional matchups against the Cardinals and the rams at home and before that the team heads to the east coast for a matchup with the New York Football Giants.
