WTA Tennis Championship Istanbul Schedule: Times and Matchups Serena Williams Sees Action in Tournament's First Day

WTA Championship in Istanbul kicks off on Tuesday and Serena Williams will be in action. Here is a look at the schedule as the tournament is currently under way. Only the top female competitors are granted access into this exclusive tournament. Here they are and here's a look at their head-to-head history.

Up first, it is Victoria Azarenka vs. Sara Errani at 5 p.m. Local time in Istanbul.
Azarenka continues to remain at the top. Consider her cursed for playing at a time where Williams is once again a dominant figure in the sport of tennis. Azarenka is ranked second in the tournamen and she faces the Italian Sara Errani.

Azarenka owns Errani, posting a 6-1 record in their head-to-head history. Errani's only victory came in Moscow on hard court back in 2008. Since then, the two have met five times and Azarenka has breezed through their matches, winning 10 straight sets. The two last met in Rome 2013 and Azarenka won 6-0, 7-5.

Following this match, it's Williams vs. Angelique Kerber. At 32 years old, Williams is fresh off another U.S. Open victory and she will be looking to defend her title after capturing it for the first time since 2009. She has defeated Kerber two times in their three meetings. Kerber beat Williams in Cincinnati during the quarterfinals, but Williams got her payback later that year, defeating Kerber at Istanbul in the first round of the tournament.

Wrapping up the evening's schedule will be Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Petra Kvitova. The two have traded blows, but it Kvitova who owns the head-to-head, going 4-1 against Radwanska.
