NHL Trade Rumors: Sabres Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek Report For Buffalo Camp As Deals Likely In 2013-14 Season

The Buffalo Sabres offseason has been filled with trade rumors regarding their two best players in Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek and as the calendar starts getting closer to the start of the regular season, talk of what will happen in the future will only intensify.

Last season the team went 21-21-6 after trying to make a hard push for the playoffs and they ended up missing the postseason in back to back years. Miller is considered one of the best goalies in the league and he has previously won a Vezina Trophy and a team like the Flyers or Canucks could be interested in a deal. Both players are considered top flight free agents if they hit the market and the Sabres may try to embrace the rebuilding process to ensure they get something in return.

According to ESPN.com, the two players reported to the team on Wednesday to take physicals and Vanek is coming into the season after scoring 41 points last year. He had 20 goals and 21 assists on the season, while Miller went 17-17-5 with a 2.81 goals against average and he finished in the top part of the league and could get something valuable in a trade for the team.

Just as the futures for those players is up in the air, the team locked up a young star in Cody Hodgson, who signed a contract for six years ahead of the official start of training camp for the season. The center is looked at as one of the top young stars on the team and he had 15 goals last season and was a consistent offensive threat. The Associated Press reported the story and the team announced the signing on Wednesday.
