Nani revealed having a talk with new manager David Moyes helped him make a decision on staying at Manchester United.

The Portuguese international was widely tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer, with the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus heavily linked with moves, but instead chose to extend his stay by signing a new contract.

Nani admitted he had quite a few offers in the summer, but chose to stay at United after realizing it was the best decision he could make regarding his career.

"I am very content with my new deal at Manchester United," Nani told the Daily Mirror. "This summer was not easy but after a lot of thought and talking to David Moyes I believe it was the best solution.

"I feel I can offer many things to United. I had other important offers but without a sufficient challenge to make me want to leave United.

"The coach would not guarantee me a place in the XI more than any other player. I know I must work hard to get into this team.

"That is my objective for this season."

Meanwhile, Robin Van Persie's opener against Swansea in their first English Premier League match of the season won the Manchester United Goal of the Month award for August, the club announced.

"Robin van Persie's opener at Swansea has been named Manchester United's Goal of the Month for August after one of the closest votes," the club said in a statement on their official website.

"The Dutchman's acrobatic effort picked up 33 percent of the votes cast by fans on ManUtd.com and its six international versions, narrowly beating his rising drive at the Liberty Stadium into second place (32 percent).

"Danny Welbeck's chip against the Swans followed closely behind on 30 percent, meaning the top three strikes were all scored in the same game."
