EPL Transfer News: Emmanuel Adebayor Happy at Tottenham, Had No Plans to Leave in the Summer

Emmanuel Adebayor insisted he had no plans of leaving Tottenham this summer and fully expects to win back his starting place.

Adebayor was widely expected to be moved on by Spurs after the arrival of Roberto Soldado from Valencia.

However as the transfer window headed towards its closure, it became increasingly clear that the former Arsenal and Manchester City forward would remain at White Hart Lane.

Adebayor said he never thought of leaving Tottenham in the summer and is happy to fight for his place.

"I decided with my manager, even before the start of the transfer window that I would not leave Tottenham and that's what I did," he told All Africa.com.

"I have never thought of leaving Spurs. I am here, my family feels great here and I do not see myself in another city."

Spurs were extremely busy in the transfer window, with Andre Villas-Boas considerably strengthening his forward department by bringing in the likes of Soldado and Erik Lamela.

Jermain Defoe also remains very much in the manager's plans, but Adebayor, despite the stiff competition, envisages being the number one choice soon.

"Today I will not tell you that I'm stronger than Soldado or Defoe or Lamela," the 29-year-old added.

"We now have four in the attack, I do not know who ranks first, second or third but I know at the end I will be the first and it is the most important."

Spurs have so far found it a little difficult to create clear cut opportunities, having scored just twice in the English Premier League so far this season, that too both from the penalty spot.

Villas-Boas is expected to take a little time to integrate all the new signings together, and so far there has been little sign that Adebayor is in the Portuguese manager's plans for this season.
