Arsenal Transfer News: Mesut Ozil Confident He is With the Right Club after Signing for the Gunners in Record Deal

Arsenal's record signing Mesut Ozil is confident he made the right decision in leaving Real Madrid, and is looking forward to winning trophies with his new club.

Ozil signed for Arsenal on transfer deadline day for a massive £42.5 million ($66 million) and cannot wait to get started at the Emirates.

"I feel positive and I say: 'Let's go Gunners,'" he told Sky Deutschland.

"The Premier League is the strongest league in the world and it's a challenge for me as I want to prove myself and prove I'm with the right club -- one that supports me and supports the important players in my side.

"I just can't wait and I'm looking forward to it as the fans are very emotional in England - they're crazy about football and I'm looking forward to taking on the league."

Faith is a word that Ozil used several times over the last couple of days, and the German international admitted he realized it was time to leave the Bernabeu, once he became aware that he was no longer needed, especially following the arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.

Ozil also said a lengthy phone conversation with Arsene Wenger convinced him to sign for Arsenal.

"At the weekend, I was certain that I would stay at Real Madrid," he told the German Football Association's official website.

"But afterwards I realized that I did not have the faith from the coach or the bosses. I am a player who needs this faith and that is what I have felt from Arsenal, which is why I have joined.

"I am really looking forward to it because I have the faith of the coach. I had spoken to him at length on the telephone, he explained his plans and that he has faith in me -- that is what I need as a player."
