Redskins Rumors: Donovan McNabb Calls Robert Griffin III 'Brainwashed', Rips Mike Shanahan for Rushing RG3 Return from Injury

Donovan McNabb knows what it is like to be a quarterback for the Washington Redskins. He spent some brief time working under Mike Shanahan and that organization. Apparently, McNabb was not a huge fan of his time with the Redskins because now, once again, the former quarterback is speaking out on all things Robert Griffin III and blaming his one-time team.

McNabb has spoken out about Griffin in the past. He made headlines for saying he thought the young quarterback was going too much since undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL. The NFL analyst claimed that the commercials, press conferences and now practices were simply creating a circus. Griffin was not too phased.

"I don't think Donovan is an idiot by any means," Griffin told GQ's Brendan Vaughn. "But right now, it's probably best we don't talk."

Of course, McNabb had to respond with something.

"I'm just trying to help him, but clearly the young generation think they have all the answers," McNabb said. "And he's going through a little turmoil right now of trying to get out on the field. And it's unfortunate, but that's where we're at right now as far as these young quarterbacks who think they have all the answers. I honestly think that over there in Washington he's getting brainwashed."

So, who does McNabb have an axe to grind with? Certainly the quarterback was likely not too thrilled by his time in Washington. He was replaced by Rex Grossman of all quarterbacks. He could be trying to fire shots at them, although Shanahan will not be too upset over something like this. However, the fact that he continues to speak out on behalf of one of the best young quarterbacks in the league is mind blowing.

This is not the first time that McNabb has decided to run his mouth about the current happenings in the NFL. He first took shots at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo after he received a large contract extension. He jabbed at Matthew Stafford claiming he did not deserve his new deal since he has brought "little success" to the team. He also ripped Ray Rice over his apparent fumble issues last season.

What it comes down to is McNabb now has a platform to speak his mind and he will not hesitate. Is Griffin brainwashed by the Redskins? This will likely not be the last time McNabb tells people one way or the other.
