Chelsea Transfer News: David Luiz Quiet on Barcelona Speculation as Dani Alves Implores Brazilian to Move to the Camp Nou

Chelsea defender David Luiz refused to be drawn out on speculation linking him with a possible summer move to Barcelona.

The Spanish giants have reportedly tabled a £35 million ($54 million) bid for the Brazil international's services, but Chelsea are reluctant to let one of their most high-profile players leave.

Some reports have suggested Luiz would be open to a move to Barcelona this summer, but the player himself chose to remain mum when asked about the transfer after the Brazil squad arrived in Basel ahead of their friendly against Switzerland.

"I will only talk about the national team because this is all I can think about when I come here, that's how I think," Luiz is quoted as saying by Globo Esporte.

"It was like this in Brazil during the Confederations Cup, and it will be like this here.

"You (press) can try everything, but you won't get anything from me."

International teammate and Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, though, would love to see Luiz become a Barcelona player.

"I would be happy if David Luiz would come to Barcelona," Alves told El Mundo Deportivo. "I always want the best for my friends and advise them to join Barca if they get the chance.

"He's not just a friend, but he has a lot of quality, too. The problem is not whether he would like to come here, but that you have to take him away from Mourinho and that will not be easy.

"Letting David Luiz join Barca will not be an option for him and even less so as it would make us stronger. It will be incredibly difficult, nearly impossible."

Barcelona are desperately seeking a central defender and have also been linked with Liverpool vice-captain Daniel Agger, with the club reportedly having an opening bid turned down by the Reds.
